We promote the study, research, and analysis of the geopolitical, geoeconomic, and maritime affair developments in the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and the connected landmass which are redrawing the global political order.​

On July 19th, 2024, The Geopolitical Cartographer had the privilege of hosting the Hon. Scott Morrison (ScoMo), 30th Prime Minister of Australia, for an insightful talk on 'Australia and the Indian Ocean' at the Grand Crystal Ballroom of the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo.The evening featured a dynamic discussion and Q&A session led by our Co-Patron, Mohamed Nasheed (Anni), former President of the Maldives. The event was attended by senior government officials, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, and the Foreign Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Sri Lanka, Ms. Aruni Wijewardane. Foreign envoys from various countries, including Chargé d'Affaires of Australian High Commission, Sri Lanka, Ms. Lalita Kapur, H.E. Semih Lütfü Turgut from T.C. Kolombo Büyükelçiliği / Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Colombo, H.E. Miyon Lee from Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka, Mr. Katsuki Kotaro from Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, Mr. Douglas Sonnek from the U.S. Embassy Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Mr. Lars Bredal from the European Union in Sri Lanka and the Maldives graced the occasion. On July 2nd 2024, Dr. Bérénice Guyot-Réchard, Senior Lecturer in 20th c. International History at King's College London, delivered a lecture on "No man's water? How the Indian Ocean became political" at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. The event was organized as a collaboration between the Geopolitical Cartographer and the Centre for Strategic Assessment of KDU.H.E.
