Executive Director

Rishan de Silva

Rishan is the Executive Director of the Geopolitical Cartographer. 

Raised in the Western Indian Ocean littoral State of Kenya and having a commodities background, Rishan has witnessed the benefitts of Indian Ocean trade. 

Alongside his academic and government backgrounds, Rishan brings a private sector approach, having held roles in various organisations and industries including Development ConsultingTechnology, Commodities, and Retail. 

From 2015, Rishan worked for Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Sri Lanka, serving as Senior Research Analyst under the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, and Ministry of Finance. He has also served as a Director in the President’s Office and advised President Wickremesinghe on International Affairs.

Rishan holds an undergraduate degree in (International) Political Science from Columbia University (Cum Laude) in New York, USA, and a Masters degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford, UK.
